This came in from Bud Legg, the IHSAA’s media contact and information guru. The CB Abe Lincoln coaching staff should be commended for its honesty and integrity:
“Over the weekend, the coaching staff at Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln reviewed the tapes and rushing game charts of Justin Ebertowski in the Sioux City East game on Friday. He was originally credited with 461 yards. In our Saturday morning nuggets, we noted that because his effort might be an all-time Iowa best or certainly among the top efforts, that as a matter of practice, we asked the Lincoln coaches to verify the effort. After a review of the game tape they did so and the performance of Ebertowski came up just shy of an all-time Iowa best at 451 yards. This was reported in the Sunday Council Bluffs Nonpareil, the Omaha World Herald and the Des Moines Register. The Iowa all-time best is 455 by Don Larson of Alden in 1954. Ebertowski’s performance ranks second on the IHSAA list. We thank the Abraham Lincoln coaching staff for their efforts.”
Again, a classy effort on the part of the CBAL staff to set the record straight.
