Cedar Rapids Area Resident to Attend Daytona 500 in Hopes of Being Awarded Naming Rights to NASCAR Race
Local qualified as finalist through entry detailing his experiences helping an elderly neighbor in the community
Atkins, IA native Timothy Chadwick will be making a trip to the Daytona International Speedway (DIS) for the season-opening Daytona 500 in an effort to walk away with a NASCAR fan’s dream – his own race. As a finalist for the third annual Crown Royal “Your Name Here” 400 contest, Chadwick will attend an elaborate unveiling ceremony from the FanZone at DIS on Friday, February 13, 2009.
During the ceremony, one finalist will be crowned and awarded the grand prize – naming rights to the spring NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Richmond International Raceway (RIR) on May 2, 2009. If Callahan wins the grand prize, the race would officially be renamed – Crown Royal presents the Timothy Chadwick 400.
“My wife and I are huge NASCAR fans that try and attend a race every year,” said Chadwick. “To attend the race at Daytona as a Crown Royal Your Name Here finalist with the chance to win the race naming rights is truly unbelievable and doesn’t even seem real.”
Chadwick submitted an online entry detailing his mission to help put on a new roof on an elderly neighbor’s house with the help of some friends, and was one of the seven finalists selected by the judging panel to attend the event. In an effort to showcase the accomplishments of their consumers, Crown Royal asked fans to describe an honorable act or achievement worthy of toasting with Crown Royal.
As part of the finalist package, Crown Royal arranged the accommodations for the seven finalists and a guest to attend the ceremony, as well as the season-opening Daytona 500. Chadwick will bring his wife Sue with him to Daytona, who he describes as a bigger fan than he is!
